Hi, I’m Andy
Traveler and photographer.
I don’t travel just to see places. I travel because I want to know if there’s more than just everyday life. More about me
Koh Kood – Thailand’s Tropical Robinson Crusoe Island
Koh Kood, sometimes also written as Koh Kut, is probably one of the last true Robinson Crusoe islands left in Thailand. The island is a lush tropical paradise where large parts are still covered with palm trees, mangrove forests, and dense jungle landscapes. It is not uncommon to encounter wild monkeys or even snakes while exploring the island’s untouched nature.
Hidden within the jungle, you will also discover beautiful waterfalls inviting visitors to swim in the middle of tropical wilderness.
Another highlight of Koh Kood is the charming fishing village, where you can enjoy fresh and delicious seafood directly by the ocean.
Paradise Beaches on Koh Kood
Koh Kood’s beaches belong to the most beautiful beaches in all of Thailand.
Here you will find everything from completely deserted tropical bays to more developed beaches with resorts and restaurants.
Throughout my travels, I have visited many spectacular beaches around the world, but on Koh Kood I experienced some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.
Even though the island is becoming increasingly popular among travellers, Koh Kood still remains something of a hidden gem in Thailand. Fortunately, the island has largely been spared from overwhelming mass tourism so far, which gives Koh Kood its wonderfully peaceful and relaxed atmosphere.
In this travel guide, I introduce you to 16 of Koh Kood’s best beaches, attractions, and highlights in detail.
And if you are not in the mood for reading, no problem — simply watch our Koh Kood videos or explore the island through our photo gallery instead.

Koh Kood Beaches in 90 Seconds – A Quick Island Trailer & Overview
Klong Han Beach – One of Koh Kood’s Most Beautiful Beaches
Klong Han Beach, also known as Secret Beach, is an untouched tropical paradise with soft white sand, green palm trees, and crystal-clear turquoise water. The gently sloping beach and calm sea provide excellent swimming conditions, while a few natural shaded areas offer protection from the tropical sun. From this dreamlike beach with true postcard scenery, you can enjoy fantastic views across Koh Kood’s coastline and towards the small offshore island Koh Raet.
Peaceful Atmosphere & Very Few Tourists
Klong Han Beach remains relatively unknown and uncrowded, making it the perfect place to relax and fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Especially during the morning hours, the beach often feels almost deserted. Even throughout the day, the atmosphere stays calm and relaxed, since the few visitors spread out nicely along the long stretch of sand. Towards the northern end, Klong Han Beach connects with Sunset Beach, where you also have the opportunity to paddle by kayak towards the untouched island of Koh Raet.
Easy Access – But No Restaurants or Infrastructure
The beach is easy to access via a concrete road with sufficient parking spaces for scooters. However, there are no hotels, restaurants, or other food options directly at the beach. If you are planning to stay for a longer period of time, make sure to bring enough drinks and snacks with you.
Useful Facts About Klong Han Beach Koh Kood
2. Nang Yai Beach – Hidden Beach with an Adventurous Arrival
Nang Yai Beach can only be reached by water, as there is currently no road leading directly to the beach. To reach this hidden tropical bay, you first paddle for around 10 minutes by kayak through a small river surrounded by dense jungle scenery. Interestingly, the previously mentioned Klong Han Beach is often also referred to as “Secret Beach.” However, the true hidden beach experience on Koh Kood can definitely be found here at Nang Yai Beach.
The snow-white sandy beach itself is not particularly large, but it offers beautiful tropical scenery with palm trees, natural shade, and a peaceful atmosphere. The water here is crystal clear and ideal for swimming, since the beach slopes slightly steeper into the sea compared to some other beaches on Koh Kood.
In some areas, you will also encounter rocks and stones in the water, but they mainly add to the natural beauty of the bay and do not negatively affect the swimming experience.
How to Reach Nang Yai Beach
To begin your small adventure towards this extraordinary beach, you first drive to the Makok Resort*. There, you can rent a kayak for approximately 100 Baht per hour. Paddling upriver through the mangrove landscape, you will pass small wooden houses and fishermen’s huts before finally arriving at Nang Yai Beach.
The only food option near the beach is the Captain Hook Resort*, so bringing drinks or snacks with you is definitely recommended if you plan to stay longer.

3. Ao Tapao Beach Koh Kood – Tourist-Friendly Beach with Excellent Swimming Conditions
White Sandy Beach with Great Swimming Conditions
Ao Tapao Beach is a beautiful white sandy beach with calm, turquoise, and crystal-clear water, offering excellent conditions for swimming and relaxing. Along the sides of the beach, you will encounter a few rocks and stones in the water, but these do not negatively affect the swimming experience. The surrounding palm trees and tropical vegetation also provide several natural shaded areas.
Although Ao Tapao Beach is one of the more developed and tourist-oriented beaches on Koh Kood, the atmosphere still feels relatively peaceful and relaxed. At the beach, you will also notice two distinctive piers. One is built from wood and mainly popular among tourists and hotel guests, while the second concrete pier is often used by locals.
Both piers offer beautiful panoramic views across Koh Kood’s west coast and the surrounding bay.
Tourist-Friendly Infrastructure
The lagoon area is home to several resorts and therefore offers a relatively good tourist infrastructure. Fortunately, the hotels and resorts have been integrated nicely into the tropical surroundings and do not feel overly intrusive. Near the beach and along the nearby main road, you will also find additional restaurants and food options outside the hotel resorts.
Useful Facts About Ao Tapao Beach Koh Kood
4. Klong Chao Beach – Koh Kood’s Main Tourist Beach
Main Beach Without Mass Tourism
Koh Kood still remains an island far away from overwhelming mass tourism, but Klong Chao Beach can definitely be considered the island’s main beach. The entire beachfront is lined with mid-range and upscale hotels and resorts, although most of them are tastefully integrated into the tropical surroundings. Around the resorts, a small village atmosphere has developed with a handful of restaurants, small bars, and local businesses — all still relatively calm and manageable in size.
Beautiful Beach – Extremely Clean & Well Maintained
Since several higher-end resorts are located directly at Klong Chao Beach, the beach itself is very clean and exceptionally well maintained. The water shines in beautiful turquoise colours and remains shallow for a long distance, while the entrance into the sea slopes very gently. In the crystal-clear water, you can easily walk 80 to 100 metres into the ocean, making this beach especially suitable for families with younger children. The relatively narrow yet long beach is surrounded by tall palm trees and tropical vegetation, providing several pleasant shaded areas to relax. One of the highlights is definitely the incredibly soft white sand, which almost feels like walking on powdered sugar — a true pleasure for your feet.
Popular Koh Kood Beach with Stunning Sunsets
Klong Chao Beach is one of the most visited and lively beaches on Koh Kood, especially during sunset when many visitors gather along the shore to enjoy the spectacular tropical scenery.

5. Bang Bao – Scenic Bay with Beautiful Beaches
Dreamlike Bay Surrounded by Tropical Nature
The picturesque Bang Bao Bay is, alongside Klong Chao and Ao Tapao Beach, one of the more developed tourist areas on Koh Kood. Nevertheless, the bay still offers breathtaking scenery straight out of a tropical postcard. The U-shaped bay is surrounded on both sides by lush jungle-covered hills and dense tropical vegetation. Bang Bao is essentially divided into two sections: one side features a beautiful sandy beach, while the opposite side is characterised by rocky coastal areas.
White Sand Beach & Crystal-Clear Water
At the white sandy beach, you will encounter shallow, crystal-clear water with a very gently sloping entrance into the sea. In the turquoise bay, you can easily walk 70 to 100 metres into the ocean, making Bang Bao Beach an ideal destination for families with children. There are no disturbing rocks or stones in the water, allowing for excellent swimming conditions. The beach is lined with palm trees and tropical vegetation providing several natural shaded spots, while the beach itself is very clean and well maintained.
Tourist-Friendly Yet Still Paradise-Like
Even though the entire bay is lined with resorts, Bang Bao still feels surprisingly calm and peaceful. The resorts have been integrated nicely into the tropical environment and do not significantly disturb the island’s beautiful scenery. One of the distinctive features of Bang Bao are the many piers used by speedboats transporting hotel guests from the mainland to the resorts. Since only a limited number of boats arrive each day, they barely affect the relaxed atmosphere of the bay.
Additionally, the piers offer beautiful panoramic views across the entire bay and towards Koh Kood’s spectacular sunsets.

6. Takhian Beach – Exotic Natural Beach
Takhian Beach is a true natural beach surrounded by palm trees and tropical vegetation in a wonderfully green environment. The water at Takhian Beach shines in beautiful turquoise colours and is exceptionally clear. Only two smaller resorts are located at the northern end of the white sandy beach, which helps preserve the peaceful and untouched atmosphere. As a result, the beach remains relatively quiet and is ideal for relaxing and unwinding.
At both ends of the beach, you may encounter a few rocks and stones in the water, while the centre section offers excellent swimming conditions along with several shaded areas beneath the trees. Outside the resort areas, there can occasionally be some minor plastic pollution washed onto the beach.
Natural Beach – Perfect for Swimming
Compared to many other beaches on Koh Kood, Takhian Beach is rather narrow and slopes more steeply into the sea. After only a few steps, the water already reaches significant depth, making this beach especially suitable for swimming. Of course, Takhian Beach is also perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, and enjoying the peaceful tropical atmosphere.
Useful Facts About Takhian Beach Koh Kood
7. Khlong Hin Beach – Remote Paradise Beach & Hidden Gem
Khlong Hin Beach is a small bay-like beach located slightly off the beaten path, surrounded by palm trees and lush tropical vegetation in a truly picturesque setting. Only a single small resort with a handful of bungalows is located directly at the white sandy beach. In addition, reaching the beach is not entirely straightforward, which helps preserve its peaceful and uncrowded atmosphere. As a result, Khlong Hin Beach is very quiet, rarely visited, and perfect for travellers looking for relaxation and tranquillity. Both the resort area and the beach itself are very clean and well maintained.
At the gently sloping beach, you will encounter shallow and crystal-clear water offering excellent conditions for snorkelling, swimming, and relaxing in the tropical surroundings. Although the beach itself is relatively small, it is more than sufficient for a beautiful and peaceful beach holiday.
Fantastic View Across the Bay
At the southern end of the beach, the ocean flows into a small river or lagoon crossed by a wooden bridge. On the nearby rocky plateau, you will find the small A la Koh Kood Resort*, which offers beautiful panoramic views across Khlong Hin Beach. In the past, a charming wooden walkway connected this area with the neighbouring Ao Jak Beach. Unfortunately, parts of the pathway had collapsed during my visit and were no longer passable. Nevertheless, walking along the remaining section is still worthwhile, as it provides fantastic views across Khlong Hin Bay and towards Ao Jak Beach.
Moderately Difficult Access to the Beach
The road towards this beautiful Koh Kood beach initially follows a concrete road before suddenly turning into a gravel track leading through dense jungle. The off-road section itself is not particularly long, but there are no signs or clear orientation points along the way. Once you reach a small junction in the jungle, take the left path — do not continue straight ahead. Apart from the small resort, there is virtually no infrastructure or food options anywhere near Khlong Hin Beach.
Useful Facts About Khlong Hin Beach Koh Kood
8. Ao Jak Nok Beach – Powder-Soft White Sand
At first, I was not completely convinced by Ao Jak Nok Beach. Why exactly? Perhaps it was the lack of palm trees upon arrival. Or maybe I had simply already been too spoiled by Koh Kood’s many paradise-like beaches. Honestly, I am still not entirely sure.
However, after walking further south along the beach, I encountered more and more palm trees and stunning tropical scenery. At this point, I decided to cool off in the ocean while the intense midday sun burned down from above. While swimming and looking back towards the coastline — surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, crystal-clear turquoise water, and this breathtaking panorama — I suddenly realised the true beauty of this place.
Let’s call it love at second sight.
The white sand at Ao Jak Nok Beach feels incredibly soft beneath your feet, almost like walking on powdered sugar.
Adventurous Access Road
Reaching Ao Jak Nok Beach feels like a small adventure. Once you leave the main road, the route quickly turns into an off-road jungle track. If you are inexperienced with scooters, extra caution is definitely recommended here. Fortunately, there are enough parking spaces available near the beach.
Apart from the small beachfront resorts, there is no additional infrastructure or restaurant nearby.
Useful Facts About Ao Jak Nok Beach Koh Kood
9. Ao Phrao Beach – Palm-Fringed Beach Paradise on Koh Kood
The highlight of Ao Phrao Beach is undoubtedly the vast palm tree plantations surrounding the beach and stretching deep into the island’s interior. The long and wide sandy beach is the southernmost beach on Koh Kood and lies within a small valley surrounded by jungle-covered hills.
Like many beaches on Koh Kood, Ao Phrao Beach features fine white sand and beautiful turquoise water inviting you to swim and relax. Although several hotels and resorts are located directly at the beach, they have been integrated nicely into the tropical landscape and do not negatively affect the scenery. Around the resort areas, the beach is very clean and well maintained, although minor pollution can occasionally appear outside these sections.
Few Visitors – Relaxed Atmosphere
Since Ao Phrao Beach is relatively spacious, the few visitors spread out very well along the shoreline. As a result, you can easily find peaceful and nearly deserted spots to relax. One thing worth mentioning are the local longtail fishing boats, which occasionally interrupt the otherwise calm atmosphere.
From the pier at the beach, you can enjoy incredible views across Ao Phrao Beach, the surrounding palm groves, and the lush green hills nearby. Overall, Ao Phrao Beach definitely belongs among Koh Kood’s most beautiful beaches.
Sandy Access Road to the Beach
Getting to the beach can be slightly tricky. For several hundred metres, you will need to ride your scooter across a sandy off-road track before reaching the beach area. Outside of the beachfront hotels and resorts, there are very few additional food or infrastructure options available.
Useful Facts About Ao Phrao Beach Koh Kood
10. Ngam Khom Beach – Private Beach at Dusita Resort
Ngam Khom Beach is a rather small and especially narrow sandy beach located within a beautiful tropical bay. A large section of the beach belongs privately to the Dusita Resort*
Around the hotel area, the beach is almost completely covered by water during high tide, meaning sunbathing on the sand is then mainly only possible within the resort area itself. However, swimming in the shallow and crystal-clear water around the resort is definitely a highlight, especially since everything is very clean and well maintained.
Publicly Accessible Area
North of the Dusita Resort, a section of the beach remains publicly accessible and becomes slightly wider. However, in this area you will encounter several rocks and stones in the water, making access to the sea somewhat more limited compared to other beaches on Koh Kood. Additionally, this part of the beach is not maintained by the resort and can therefore appear slightly polluted in places. Nevertheless, the scenery around the bay is picturesque and beautifully surrounded by nature. In my opinion though, visiting Ngam Khom Beach is mainly worthwhile if you are staying directly at the hotel.
The easiest way to reach the beach is via the Ngamkho Resort area, where you can park your scooter before walking along the shoreline.
Useful Facts About Dusita Beach Koh Kood
11. Private Beach at A-Na-Lay Resort
At the A-Na-Lay Resort*, you will find a beautiful, white, and well-maintained sandy beach with shallow water offering excellent swimming conditions. The beach itself is private and exclusively reserved for hotel guests. Access to the “A-Na-Lay Beach” is only possible through the resort grounds, where you first pass several beautiful bungalows and tropical huts. Afterwards, a charming wooden walkway leads you directly towards the beach beside the resort area. The untouched beach features several palm trees and shaded areas, remains relatively quiet, and is not heavily frequented.
Although I did not personally stay overnight at the resort, the entire property left a very positive and lasting impression on me. If I ever return to Koh Kood, this resort would definitely be an accommodation option worth considering.
Useful Facts About A-Na-Lay Beach Koh Kood
12. Ao Yai Fisherman Village – Charming Fishing Village with Delicious Seafood
The picturesque Ao Yai Fisherman Village is located within a beautiful bay and is especially known for its excellent seafood specialities.
Most of the village consists of traditional wooden stilt houses, creating a truly unique and authentic atmosphere. As you stroll along the wooden and concrete walkways through the village, you will encounter the relaxed lifestyle Thailand is famous for. The laid-back atmosphere is present everywhere.
In front of the wooden houses, locals relax in hammocks, share meals together, repair fishing nets, inspect the daily catch, maintain boats, observe tourists — and occasionally even laugh at them. Honestly, this is one of those places where you could easily spend hours simply watching everyday life unfold.
Authentic Ao Yai Fisherman Village
So far, Ao Yai Fisherman Village has largely managed to preserve its original charm. While walking through the village, you will encounter wooden houses in varying condition, old fishing nets, ropes, barrels, and traditional fishing boats scattered throughout the area.
Even though there is already plenty to discover on land, it is also worth looking into the water from time to time. Quite often, you can spot crabs, sea urchins, or even large schools of fish passing beneath the walkways.
The two seafood restaurants in the village serve delicious dishes in nicely designed settings, although prices are slightly higher compared to typical Thai standards. Additionally, you will find a few small souvenir shops.
Viewpoints & Access
Ao Yai Fisherman Village is located on the eastern side of Koh Kood and can easily be reached via the island’s concrete main road. Along the way, you will pass a small viewpoint offering a fantastic panoramic view across the fishing village and the surrounding bay.
If you plan to eat at one of the seafood restaurants, you can already spot them from the viewpoint thanks to their clearly visible roofs and signs.
Useful Facts About Ao Yai Fisherman Village Koh Kood
13. Klong Chao Waterfall – Natural Jungle Pool
After a short 10-minute walk through the forest over rocks and uneven jungle paths, you will reach the beautiful Klong Chao Waterfall. Hidden deep within the jungle, the waterfall is not only a fascinating natural sight, but also home to a fantastic natural swimming pool formed by rocks and stones, inviting visitors to cool off in the refreshing water. Around the stream and waterfall area, you will often encounter numerous butterflies fluttering through the tropical surroundings.
If you swim across the small natural pool, you can even stand directly beneath the waterfall and let the water crash down onto your head. Surprisingly, the water here felt significantly cooler and more refreshing than the warm ocean surrounding Koh Kood.
Royal Visit to Klong Chao Waterfall
King Rama VI visited the waterfall in 1911 and gave it the royal name “Anamkok”. This was done in memory of Ong Chiang Lue, a Vietnamese king who sought refuge in the Kingdom of Siam (Thailand) during the reign of King Rama I in the late 18th century. To this day, the king’s initials can still be seen engraved into a large rock beside the natural pool.
Popular & Frequently Visited Waterfall
Although Klong Chao Waterfall is not particularly high, it is probably the most famous and most visited of Koh Kood’s three waterfalls. This is mainly due to its central location and relatively easy accessibility. As a result, the waterfall can become quite busy at times and is generally well frequented by tourists. Parking spaces are widely available, although a small parking fee of 20 Baht is charged.
Useful Facts About Klong Chao Waterfall Koh Kood
14. Khlong Yai Ki Waterfall – Natural Fish Spa
After descending a rather steep staircase leading through the jungle, you will reach the beautiful Khlong Yai Ki Waterfall. Surrounded by lush tropical nature, this waterfall is the smallest on Koh Kood and features a natural rock pool with excellent swimming conditions.
Inside the small natural basin live countless tiny fish seemingly delighted by every visitor. If you keep your legs still in the water, the little fish will quickly gather around your feet and give you a natural “fish spa pedicure”.
Compared to Klong Chao Waterfall, Khlong Yai Ki Waterfall receives significantly fewer visitors and therefore feels much more peaceful and relaxed.
The waterfall can easily be reached via a concrete access road, and parking spaces are completely free of charge.
Useful Facts About Khlong Yai Ki Waterfall Koh Kood
15. Huang Nam Keaw – Hidden Gem Among Koh Kood’s Waterfalls
Huang Nam Keaw is the least visited waterfall on Koh Kood and there is a good chance you may have the entire place completely to yourself. The water gently flows over an interesting rock formation before ending in a small natural “whirlpool”. Depending on the season, swimming here can also be possible. During the dry season however, Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall can sometimes resemble little more than a dripping garden hose.
The small pool continues into a mostly dried-up riverbed filled with large rocks and stones, giving parts of the scenery an appearance almost reminiscent of an alpine mountain stream.
Apart from dense jungle vegetation, there is practically nothing surrounding the waterfall, making the atmosphere wonderfully peaceful — aside from the constant sound of crickets in the background.
Small & Charming Restaurant Nearby
The journey towards the waterfall leads along a relatively long gravel road, which is not always in perfect condition. Eventually, you will arrive at a small and charming Thai restaurant serving very tasty and affordable food. From there, a steep staircase leads down towards the riverbed.
Afterwards, turn left and climb across several large rocks and stones until you finally reach the waterfall after roughly five minutes.
Useful Facts About Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall Koh Kood
16. Big Chai & Old Tree – 500 Years of History
On the way to Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall, you will encounter two additional attractions known as the Big Chai Tree and the Old Tree. Both giant trees are located deep within the jungle and are believed to be around 500 years old, featuring impressive and massive root systems.
Five hundred years is an incredibly long time.
Just imagine everything these ancient trees must have witnessed throughout the centuries and the stories they could tell if they were able to communicate with us. In my opinion, travelling here solely for the trees is probably not worthwhile.
However, they can easily and perfectly be combined with a visit to Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall, as both trees are located directly beside the gravel road leading towards the waterfall.

Accommodation & Hotels on Koh Kood

Here I Stayed
Koh Kood offers a fantastic selection of accommodations and, depending on your travel style and preferences, you will definitely find the perfect place to stay.
Whether you are searching for a luxurious beachfront resort, a family-friendly hotel, or a simple backpacker bungalow surrounded by nature — Koh Kood has something for every budget and travel type.
Personally, I have already stayed at three different hotels on the island:
- Cham’s House at Takhian Beach
- The Beach Natural Resort at Bang Bao
- AwayKoh Kood at Klong Chao Beach
Cham’s House
Cham’s House Resort is located directly at the paradise-like natural beach of Takhian Beach and belongs to the mid-range hotel category on Koh Kood. The resort features a main building with approximately 15 rooms offering fantastic views across Takhian Beach and the turquoise ocean.
In addition, several private pool villas and bungalows with jacuzzis are spread throughout the tropical resort grounds. Next to the main building, you will find the reception area, a breakfast restaurant, and a large swimming pool. Directly at the beach, guests can relax on sun loungers or visit the beachfront restaurant, which is open daily from 11:00 AM until 11:00 PM.
Between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, guests can enjoy the resort’s happy hour while sipping complimentary drinks and cocktails during sunset.
Cham’s House is especially suitable for travellers looking for peace and relaxation and also serves as a great base for exploring Koh Kood. During my stay, the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
You can find a more detailed review of Cham’s House under this link*.
However, it seems that the hotel has struggled somewhat to fully recover after the Covid period — at least judging by more recent reviews across various booking platforms. You can also get a better impression of Cham’s House in our Koh Kood video gallery.
The Beach Natural Resort
Located directly at the beautiful Bang Bao Bay, The Beach Natural Resort was one of the places where I spent a truly unforgettable time on Koh Kood. Surrounded by tropical nature and an incredibly friendly staff, the resort immediately created a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
The entire resort is beautifully integrated into lush tropical gardens, which at the time of my visit were personally maintained by the owner himself. One of the absolute highlights for me was definitely the food. The dishes served at the resort restaurant were exceptionally delicious and honestly one of the main reasons why I would gladly return here anytime.
During my stay, the bungalows themselves were rather simple and modest in design, but they were fully sufficient, comfortable, and perfectly suited to the island’s relaxed atmosphere. The resort also features its own pier extending into Bang Bao Bay.
From there, you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views across the bay, while the pier additionally serves as a perfect spot for entering the crystal-clear ocean. Since my original stay, the resort has been renovated and modernised.
Because of these changes, I would currently avoid writing a highly detailed hotel review based purely on my earlier experience. However, during my most recent visit to Koh Kood, I returned to The Beach Natural Resort again as a day visitor.
Overall, apart from the modernisation itself, the resort still felt very similar in atmosphere and quality — which is why I can still comfortably recommend it today.
Tolani Resort Koh Kood
The Tolani Resort Koh Kood is located slightly beside Klong Chao Beach and offers beautiful views across the bay and the surrounding tropical scenery. The green resort grounds feature several bungalows with comfortable and appealing interiors, while the staff was consistently very friendly and welcoming throughout my stay.
Compared to many other resorts around the main Klong Chao Beach area, Tolani belongs to the more affordable accommodation options and serves as a very good base for exploring Koh Kood. One small downside of the resort’s location is the lack of direct access to Klong Chao Beach itself.
Guests can either borrow a free kayak and paddle across to the beach within approximately 3 to 5 minutes, or rent a scooter and drive there instead. Since the road takes a rather large detour around the bay, walking to Klong Chao Beach takes roughly 30 minutes on foot.
Overall, I personally liked the resort very much.
However, if your holiday is focused almost entirely on beach relaxation and swimming, there are probably better resort options available within a similar price range — especially due to the slightly less direct beach location.
Further Interesting Resorts
If I ever return to Koh Kood — which I honestly really hope I will — I would definitely take a closer look at the Ao Noi Resort again.
What impressed me most was undoubtedly the resort’s stunning location directly at Ao Noi Beach. The entire property itself also left a very memorable impression on me. The bungalows and rooms, however, are kept rather simple and modest in design.
The A-Na-Lay Resort* also made a very positive impression on me. The whole resort felt beautifully designed and well integrated into nature, while the private sandy beach is absolutely fantastic.
Another accommodation I would personally consider for a future stay is the Makok Resort*. Although the resort is not located directly at a beach, its position along the small tropical river is incredibly beautiful and peaceful.
The charming resort grounds appeared very well maintained and the staff was exceptionally friendly.
Getting Around Koh Kood

The easiest and most flexible way to get around Koh Kood is definitely by rental scooter. Rental prices usually range between 200 and 300 Baht per day and scooters can normally be booked directly through your hotel or resort.
Alternatively, you can also hire a local pick-up taxi, which can likewise usually be arranged through your accommodation.
Koh Kood Arrival – How to Get to the Island

Travelling to Koh Kood is slightly more challenging compared to many other islands in Thailand. This is probably one of the reasons why Koh Kood has fortunately remained largely untouched by mass tourism until today. Although Koh Kood does not have its own airport, the island can still easily be reached by a combination of flights, vans, and ferries.
There is also a ferry connection from Bangkok, although the overall journey takes more than eight hours.
Arrival by Plane
From Bangkok, you can book a domestic flight to Trat, which takes approximately 40 minutes. From Trat Airport, vans transfer travellers to the nearby piers located around 15 to 30 kilometres away, usually towards Laem Ngob Pier. Combined tickets including the transfer from the airport can normally be booked directly at Trat Airport and cost approximately 500 Baht per person.
From Bangkok by Van or Taxi
Alternatively, you can also travel from Bangkok to the piers near Trat by taxi or minivan. Most transport providers head towards Laem Sok Pier. The overland journey from Bangkok takes roughly five hours. The ferry to Koh Kood usually departs around 1:00 PM and costs approximately 500 Baht.

Recommended Travel Duration for Koh Kood’s Beaches & Attractions

If you would like to visit most of Koh Kood’s beaches, waterfalls, and attractions, I would recommend staying around five to seven days.
At the same time, the island is also perfectly suitable for a relaxing two-week beach holiday — ultimately depending entirely on your own travel style and preferences.
The region is also ideal for island hopping. Both Koh Mak and Koh Chang are located not far from Koh Kood and can easily be reached by speedboat or ferry connections.
In my personal opinion, you should spend at least three to four days on Koh Kood to fully enjoy the island’s relaxed atmosphere and natural beauty.
Best Time to Enjoy Koh Kood’s Beaches

The best time to visit Koh Kood is during the dry season, which usually lasts between December and March.
During this period, temperatures average around 30°C and rainfall is relatively rare, creating ideal conditions for beach holidays, island hopping, and exploring Koh Kood’s tropical nature. During the rainy season between April and October, many resorts temporarily close and ferry as well as speedboat connections operate less frequently.
However, travelling to Koh Kood towards the end of October or during early November can also be a fantastic experience.
By then, the monsoon season has usually weakened significantly, rainfall becomes much less frequent, and the island is noticeably quieter due to fewer tourists.
As a result, you may often find yourself enjoying Koh Kood’s paradise beaches almost entirely alone, while the waterfalls still carry plenty of water from the rainy season.
Conclusion About Koh Kood’s Beaches & Attractions

Have you ever caught yourself drifting away while looking at beautiful tropical postcards and dreaming of paradise?
Personally, I know these daydreams all too well.
Paradise-like beaches, crystal-clear turquoise water, powder-soft white sand, swimming in the warm ocean, feeling the tropical sun on your skin, escaping everyday stress, and simply enjoying life for a while…
If you would rather experience all of this instead of only dreaming about it, then you should definitely visit Koh Kood — because this is exactly where those tropical dreams become reality.
For me personally, Koh Kood belongs among the most beautiful places in all of Thailand.
The untouched nature, the stunning paradise beaches, and the fact that the island still has not been completely overrun by mass tourism make Koh Kood a truly special destination.
So far, I have already visited Koh Kood four different times — and I am quite certain that I will return to this beautiful island again in the near future.
